FANS, FINANCES AND FUNDING:
FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR THE MID-SOUTH DISTRICT
|
Funding for Mid-South District programs, services and resources comes directly from Mid-South member congregations and from their support of the UUA’s Annual Program Fund (the ‘APF’)
‘Fans of Mid-South District’ also provide financial support for the district.
Mid-South congregations send ‘fair share’ contributions to the district each year -- $20 per adult member in 2007-08. (These contributions are usually mailed directly to the district bookkeeper.) |
Congregations’ “fair share” contributions to the UUA’s Annual Program Fund ($54/member for 2007-08) also supports the district’s work. The APF provides at least half of the funding for the district staff and office – and it awards bonus funds to districts when 90% of district congregations contribute their per-member “Fair Share” to the APF. (Contributions to the UUA Annual Program Fund are usually mailed directly to the UUA’s APF address in Boston.) |
Because the district budget determines what the Mid-South District is able to offer its congregations, Mid-South’s leaders hope that congregations see the direct benefits of supporting the APF as well as the District. 90-95% of Mid-South congregations have traditionally paid “Fair Share” to both MSD and the UUA/APF -- and in 2001-02, 100% of Mid-South’s congregations paid their “Fair Share” to both – a fine achievement! |
| The UUA Annual Program Fund supports 1/2 of the compensation of the District Executive, Program Consultant, and District Office. The 2006-07 Mid-South budget received about 45% of its income from direct financial support from member congregations and approximately 55% from the APF. |
Mid-South’s treasurer and bookkeeper can answer questions about fair share financial support of the district. |
Mid-South’s APF Rep or the Director of the APF can answer questions about fair share contributions to the UUA’s Annual Program Fund. |
