Minister Trustee

Each board member accepts the responsibility for keeping the board and the district apprised of the work of his/her area of responsibility, presenting reports to the board at each of its meetings, offering news for district publications when appropriate, and preparing a summary annual report for the Mid-South District Annual Assembly.

Board members understand they are a part of the leadership of the Mid-South District and attend and participate in events and conferences of the district whenever possible. They are particularly expected to attend the MSD Annual Assembly/Annual Meeting.

Board members agree to submit timely expense reports to the MSD bookkeeper and annual budget planning information to the MSD Treasurer/Finance Committee Chairperson.

• Serve as the board’s liaison to the ministers of the congregations and the Southeast Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association (SEUUMA). The Minister shall ensure that the perspective of ministers is voiced in all decisions made by the board and that the board ’ s decisions are communicated to the ministers.
• Advise the Mid-South District Executive in monitoring the status of the ministry in the District.
• Be available to serve as guest clergy at Sunday services for congregations hosting meetings of the board (usually in November and February) when appropriate and helpful to those congregations. (The appropriate honorarium is paid by the congregation.)

• Coordinate the worship services for MSD Annual Assembly in collaboration with the TEACH Committee planners and District Executive; specifically:
  • Design and execute the MSD Service of the Lively Tradition (Friday evening opening)
  • Assist in recruiting leaders for MSD Annual Assembly worship services (Saturday morning, Matins and Saturday afternoon closing)
  • Consult with and provide support for worship leaders as needed
• Attend the Congregational President’s Convocation as part of the “faculty,” coordinating with the MSD District Executive a presentation and leading one of the worship services.
